Satan's Holiday With Ritchie Blackmore
One of my favorite rock guitar instrumentals is Satan's Holiday by The Lancasters. I discovered this track a few years ago on a compilation. I loved it right away. The main theme is borrowed from a classical piece by Edvard Grieg called In the Hall of the Mountain King. When I decided to search for more music by The Lancasters, I was very surprised to discover that their guitarist was none other then Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple! He played with The Lancasters before he joined Deep Purple in 1968.
Satan's Holiday is a lot of fun to play. It has several different sections, a tempo change and it speeds up towards the end. It also gives a nod to Booker T & The MGs in one section. It was performed as a trio and sounds great with just one guitar, bass and drums. You can download the tabs here.
