The Power Of Three Chords

Sometimes all you need to write a great song is three chords... and here is the proof (again). I just discovered this song and this band; Shine by Mondo Cozmo. It never ceases to amaze me. It's like that t-shirt with three chord diagrams for A, D and G and then underneath it says, " Now start a band." It's so true. In this case though, it's G, F and C. If you play it with a capo at the fifth fret, it's an even easier D, Cadd9, G.

A friend of mine told me he heard this song and couldn't get it out of his head. Of course, as usual, I was skeptical. I listen to a lot of music and I am pretty critical. When the song began with three chords strummed on an acoustic guitar, I had my doubts. The vocalist didn't really grab my attention at first either but when the chorus comes in, I started to get that feeling - you know the one - the one that grabs you by the heart and makes you feel like you never want the song to end. That feeling kept growing as the song played and by the end, I was a convert. It's just plain old rock 'n' roll but I like it.
